Repairing Structural Issues
At Antigonish Family Dentistry, our dentists can help restore your smile - and your oral health - by repairing structural issues such as damaged or missing teeth.
We offer a variety of procedures to help restore your smile's appearance and function. Services designed to restore your oral health include procedures such as dental crowns, bridges, fillings, root canals, and more.
Depending on your oral health issue, the dentists at Antigonish Family Dentistry will determine the correct restorative treatment option for you.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. This joint disorder can cause a host of issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face, including painful symptoms. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
CEREC Crowns
Oftentimes, we will recommend a dental crown when a tooth damage is too extensive to be repaired with a filling or other procedure. A crown completely covers a tooth, giving it structure and support. Using CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics), crowns can be placed in a single appointment.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are an affordable option for replacing teeth. There are two types of dentures: full and partial. Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the top and bottom section of the mouth, while partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth.
Dental Fillings
If you're no stranger to fillings, then you know we recommend them for treating cavities. If a tooth has been damaged, fillings can help repair them. We use bonded fillings made of a composite resin similar in colour to your teeth. Composite resin can blend naturally with a patient's teeth.
Root Canals
A root canal is necessary if a tooth has developed, or is very likely to develop, an infection in its inner soft tissue. This type of infection cannot clear up on its own, and therefore, dental intervention is necessary in order to maintain good oral health, and prevent infections from developing in the future.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges fill the gap left by missing teeth. They can be used to replace one missing tooth or several. The bridge attaches to the remaining natural teeth on either side forming that bridge. A bridge can help prevent natural teeth from shifting or rotating into the space that's created by missing teeth.
